Abstract

Electro Discharge Machining is a Cost-Effective, Non-Traditional & Non-Conventional Machining Method, which is widely employed for machining of Conductive metals with high hardness and manufacturing of Complex geometries with high precision. This work investigates the influence of EDM with process parameter such as 1) Peak current 2) Pulse ON Time & 3) Pulse OFF Time during Machining of EN31 Die Steel & Inconel 625 using Copper as Electrode Material on Material Removal Rate (MRR), Tool Wear Rate (TWR). The Experiments are Designed by DOE (Design of Experiment) technique using Taguchi L9 Orthogonal array. The ANOVA Analysis are carried out to Identify the most significant Parameter to Maximize material removal rate (MRR) & Minimize tool wear rate (TWR). Regression Analysis is performed and Empirical Relation is formed for Material Removal Rate (MRR) & Tool Wear Rate (TWR), which are Analyzed using MINITAB Software. Grey Relational Analysis is used to determine the optimum condition of various input parameter to obtain the best quality characteristics. From this Work, it was Observed that Material Removal Rate (MRR) & Tool Wear Rate (TWR) increases with Increases the Peak Current. So, Peak Current is Most Significant parameter .
