Coolant Fabric Using Superfine Merino Wool
Abstract
ABSTRACT
Nowadays, the word ‘Textile’ is no more limited to apparel clothing, but textiles are used in every walk of life including protecting human life. Protective textile is one of the fastest growing areas among different segments of technical textiles. Protective textiles or protective clothing are used primarily for their functional properties rather than decorative or aesthetic properties. Protective textiles enhance the quality of human life through protection against adverse environments. These environments may be natural like heat, cold, storms, snow, etc., or could be man-made like ultraviolet rays, radioactive radiation, friction, dust, microorganisms, static electricity, chemicals, etc.
The most common danger in various work sectors is thermal stress. This thermal stress occurs when we are not able to maintain our body temperature in the range of 36 °C and 37 °C. A person is exposed to heat load due to his metabolic heat during work and his clothing requirements. Apart from that environmental factor like air temperature, humidity, air movement, heat transfer, etc. plays an important role. The selection of proper protective clothing normally decreases such stress because it shields the body from its surroundings, impeding heat release. The research work aims to develop technologies, and their understanding by reviewing and discussing the different technologies commercially available and other ways and means to control thermal stress.
